Table IV, Section 2b → The B is for “Buzzer”
If you go clear in the first round, STOP and WAIT for the buzzer that signals the countdown to start your jump-off.
Example: Jump numbers 1-8. If clear, wait for the buzzer to start jump-off 1,3,4,6
Table IV, Section 1 →The 1 is for “1 round”!
This is a single course. Usually, 1-10, but can be anywhere from 8 to 12 jumps. NO JUMP OFF. Jump 1-10 and then leave the ring!
Table II, Section 2c → The C is for “Continue!”
This is a power and speed class. The first half is like the first round of Table II, Section 2b, you must have power to go clear. If you are clear in the power, CONTINUE, DON’T STOP, KEEP GOING and ride the speed (jump-off) immediately. If you have any faults in the power (rail/stop/time) you will be buzzed out before the speed half.
Example: Jumps 1-6 are the power course. If you have no faults in the first 6 jumps, KEEP GOING and ride jumps 7-10 as the immediate jump off.
OR
Jumps 1-6 are the power course. If you have any faults in the first 6 jumps, STOP after jump 6 and exit the ring.
OPTIMUM TIME EXPLAINED
In the case of equality of faults, ties will be broken on the following basis: an “Optimum Time” (defined as 4 seconds less than the Time Allowed for the course) will be posted on the course plan; the horse with the time on course closest to this Optimum Time (over or under) will prevail in the tie, next closest next, etc.
The Time Allowed is based on a minimum speed of 350 meters per minute (382 yards per minute).
Example: Two riders have clear jump off rounds. Time allowed is 48 seconds/Optimum Time is 44 seconds. Rider 1 has a time of 36 seconds. Rider 2 has a time of 50 seconds. Rider 2 wins first place, Rider 1 wins second place.
